Polarization-Reconfigurable Antenna Using Combination of Circular Polarized Modes

This paper presents a novel polarization-reconfigurable antenna based on the combination of circularly polarized (CP) modes, which is capable changing its polarization states among arbitrary linear polarizations (LPs), left-handed circular (LHCP) and right-handed (RHCP). A truncated square patch with two isolated aperture-coupling feeds used as radiation element operating at 2.45 GHz, can operate in orthogonal CP modes low crosstalk. By exciting one feeding microstrip lines, LHCP or RHCP mode be independently generated. Meanwhile, by simultaneously lines identical amplitudes but different initial phases, LP plane oriented any desired azimuth direction obtained. The simulated measured peak gain proposed remains about 6.8 dBi GHz impedance matching bandwidth ranging from 2.25 to 2.60 fully overlapped for all states. Experimental results show good performance antenna.
